Hudson County Central Labor Council/IFPTE Local 194
Secretary Tresurer/Maintenance Chair
Hudson County, New Jersey
I am a 26 year union member who works as a Roadway Maintenance Person on the NJ Turnpike. My career started in 1992 as a worksite shop steward (while employed as a toll collector) and worked my way to Area Officer and eventually Executive Board member of IFPTE Local 194 (since 2004).

It was around that same time that I began attending meetings of the Hudson County Central Labor Council as a delegate. I have held numerous positions on the board of that organization, from VP to Political Coordinator. I currently serve as the Secretary Treasurer.

I also hold a BA in History/Political Science from Rutgers University (1991) and a Master's Degree in Labor and Employment Relations from the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations (2012). I earned my MLER working full time and transferring into the Maintenance Department of the New Jersey Turnpike (circa 2008). While difficult, my academic journey has been an essential tool to help represent the brothers and sisters of IFPTE Local 194 and the Hudson County Central Labor Council. I would also like to add that the tuition reimbursement agreement in my collective bargaining agreement covered almost the entire cost of my Master's Degree.

On a final note, I firmly believe that organizing is the future of the labor movement. My background in history has provided some lessons for the future of working people in our country. Looking to the past, the working class can look at best practices and victories in order to unite and fight for a more just future.
